George John Moscicki, 74, son of Eva J. Moscicki and stepfather Staley A. Kort, was born Dec. 22, 1938, in St. Louis, Mo. He passed away at his home in Roby on Feb. 7, 2013.
George grew up in the St. Louis area, attending a Catholic elementary school and then going to a public high school.
George was a hard worker, and providing for his family was a top priority. He worked for a freight company on the loading docks in St. Louis. He really enjoyed his work, knowing he was performing an important job for his employers and taking pride in fulfilling it.
He married Shirleen Shepherd and to this union four children were born.
He was preceded in death by his mother; stepfather; wife; and three sons, George, Jr., Joseph, and Daniel.
He is survived by his daughter, Theresa Matthews, of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren, Rein Conversi, Kordero Conversi, Joshua Wilson-Moscicki and Nickolei Wilson; two sisters, Helen Salo, and husband, Eric, of Sagamore Hills, Ohio, and Mary Jones and husband, Nield, of Bowling Green, Mo.; one niece, Colleen; and four nephews, James, John, Lonnie and Aaron.
George was interested in so many things. He kept up with the daily and world news. He was an avid sports fan. He never played sports, but once told his sister he wished he had. He followed the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed listening and watching their games, really, he enjoyed several sporting teams cheering them on, loving when they won and sorrowing when they lost. He was able to watch his first football game when he watched the Super Bowl this last weekend. He was thrilled to see the 108-yard kickoff return by the Baltimore Ravens.
George had lived in the Roby area many years. He loved the area and felt that just living where he did was a wonderful gift from God. Being outdoors energized him. You could count on him to be ready to go hunting or fishing anytime.
George loved his family. He loved being with them and enjoyed his grandchildren.
He was a survivor, a strong man in so many ways. He persevered in battles of both physical and emotional situations in his life, often just willing himself to live. However, we know that the call from God to go home will come to all of us. George has finally answered the call and
he will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
