A Licking man was injured Tuesday, Jan. 15, in a crash on Highway 32 after he attempted to miss a deer, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

A Licking man sustained minor injuries Tuesday afternoon in a crash east of his hometown, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Tpr. Jeff Leathers said an eastbound 2003 Ford Mustang driven by Phillip E. Giller, 25, swerved to miss a deer on Highway 32, ran off the highway and struck a tree.

Leathers said Giller, who was wearing a seat belt, refused treatment at the crash scene about 15 miles west of Salem. Members of the Licking Fire Department were called.

The vehicle was totaled, Leathers said.
