HHS basketball

The Houston Lady Tigers shot a season-low 18 percent from the field in a 29-28 loss Monday at Willow Springs.

The defeat was the fifth in the last six outings for HHS, which also fell to 1-1 in South Central Association play.

Sophomore Kylee Elmore scored 14 points for the Lady Tigers, who led 9-4 after the opening quarter. She had six of the team’s nine field goals.

The Lady Tigers misfired on 40 of their 49 shots en route to a season-low point total. They were 2-for-11 from downtown.

Willow Springs wasn’t much better offensively. The Lady Bears, led by Kyra Bunch’s 12 points, shot 29 percent and didn’t make a 3-pointer.

Elmore and Alexa Ichord had for steals apiece for Houston. Kenzie Scheets led the team with five rebounds.

JUNIOR VARSITY: Karissa Zalucky scored a career best 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting as the JV Lady Tigers edged Willow Springs 35-33 Monday night on the road.

Krista Scott, Monica Hunter and Lizzy Swindell scored four points apiece for Houston. Zalucky had four of the team’s 16 steals.
