As a pair of volunteer firefighters look on, a tow truck driver prepares to remove the wreckage at the site of a one-car fatality accident last Wednesday on Highway 137 north of Raymondville.

One person was killed Wednesday afternoon in a  crash on Highway 137 about three miles north of Raymondville, authorities say.

Cpl. Scott Nelson of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am driven south by Gregory E. Dooley, 37, ran off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and traveled off the left side of the highway.

The vehicle later struck a tree and a rock embankment.

Nelson said Dooley was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Texas County Coroner Thomas Whittaker. The body was taken to the Texas County morgue.

Personnel from the Licking and Raymondville fire departments, the Missouri Department of Transportation, and a Texas County Memorial Hospital ambulance crew also responded.
