Sales tax revenue in Houston during 2012 was nearly unchanged from the previous year, according to a tally from the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Revenue from sales taxes collected in Texas County dropped about 12 percent from the same monthly period a year ago, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The tally from three, half-cent sales taxes was about $80,797 each, it reported. That’s down about $11,433 each from the same period in 2011.

For the year, revenue is down about 3 percent compared to the same 11 months last year. About $846,000 has been collected. That’s a decrease of about $25,000.

Sales tax revenue goes toward general revenue, debt repayment and operations.
