William “”Bill”” Harry Barnhurst, 77, son of Harry William Barnhurst and Mary Hoffelbower Barnhurst, was born Feb. 6, 1924, in Cleveland, Ohio. He died Feb. 21, 2001, at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains. He married Ruth Holmes in 1946 at Mount Holly, N.J. They had five children. Mr. Barnhurst served in World War II in France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. He was in the 5th Armor Division, serving from April 12, 1943, until Nov. 8, 1945. The Barnhursts moved to the Elk Creek area November 1971. He was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church at Mountain Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother and one sister, Eloise Barnhurst Seamon. Surviving are his wife of the home; his children Hope Ruth Gipe of Hagerstown, Md., William “”Billy”” Barnhurst of Brooklyn, N.Y., Robert Barnhurst of Berrien Springs, Mich., Richard “”Rich”” Barnhurst of Plymouth, Minn., and Dale Barnhurst of Marion, Ill.; one stepbrother, Donald Barnhurst of Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services were Feb. 25 at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Mountain Grove with Joe Hagan officiating under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home of Summersville. The body was cremated. “
