DAVID PHILLIPS

David Franklin Phillips, 84, son of Roy Paul and Clara Rosencrants Phillips, was born in 1916 in Polk County, Iowa. He died Feb. 4, 2001, 25 days short of his 85th birthday. Mr. Phillips grew up working on the family farm. He married Ruby Smith in 1937 at Cumming, Iowa. The Phillips had three children and moved to Missouri in 1949. Once the boys were old enough to handle the farm, he went back to truck driving and continued until he suffered a stroke in 1981. Mr. Phillips was a member of Community Church in Cumming, Iowa., and was a member of the World Wide Church of God. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sharon Dianne; his parents; and two brothers, Roy Paul and Wilber. Surviving are his wife; two sons, David Jr. of Roby and Samuel John of Belle; one brother, Ben Phillips of Waukee, Iowa; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services were Feb. 7 at the Roby Christian Church with Joe Counsil and Gary Patterson officiating. Burial was in the Palace Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. “
