Conrad Franklin Tate, 68, son of William Muncie and Hettie Blankenship Tate, was born March 22, 1934, at Matoaka, W.Va. He died June 19, 2002, at his home at Dixon. Mr. Tate joined the Army in November 1956, serving until July 1981. He retired as a sergeant first class serving as a dental assistant. After his retirement, he was a Civil Service dental assistant. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Conrad Tate Jr., who died April 15, 1988; and one brother, Tim Tate. Surviving are his wife, Mildred, of the home; two sons, Kenneth Browning of California and Jeff Browning of Success; one daughter, Constance Smith of Springfield; two brothers, Bill Tate of Newport News, Va., and Jim Tate of Warner Robins, Ga.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services were June 22 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Major Greg Baxter officiating. Burial was in the Palace Cemetery. “
