Katherine Dawn Merck Horner, 67, daughter of Homer and Elsie Morgan, was born July 1, 1934, at Houston. She died June 19, 2002, at the home of her daughter and caretaker in Oakdale, Calif. She was a 1952 graduate of Houston High School and attended the University of Missouri prior to moving to California, where she at-tended the University of California at Berkley. She was an executive secre-tary/special assistant to the execu-tive vice president of marketing at E & J Gallo Winery for 25 years before retiring and moving to the Palm Springs area. She served more than 10 years as a member of the Stanislaus Mental Health Advisory Board and was ac-tive in many service clubs includ-ing Rotary and Rotary International. She was preceded in death by a son, Clifton Thomas Merck. Surviving are her daughter, Natalie Walper of Oakdale, Calif.; a brother, Ralph Morgan of Modesto, Calif.; and one granddaughter. A celebration of her life is Saturday, July 27, at the home of her daughter in Oakdale. “
