Ozelda Hildebrand Havens, 76, daughter of Henry Benton and Rosa Mabel Lee Hildebrand, was born Feb. 16, 1926, near Evening Shade. She died June 11, 2002, at St. Mary Hospital at Port Arthur, Texas, after a 17-year battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She was a military wife and traveled throughout the U.S. and abroad, raising her two daughters along the way. She retired to Beaumont, Texas, where she was a practical nurse caring for the elderly. She maintained her LPN license until her death. Mrs. Havens was active in the Republican Party, loved to gar-den and enjoyed writing poetry, stories and songs, of which one was published. She enjoyed spending time with her family, church family, friends and cat and dog. She was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Renae Dargie and Marsha Sheree; a brother, Glenn Hildebrand; and her sister, Irene Cochran. Surviving are two daughters, Durae Richardson of Beaumont, Texas, and Lisa Gorecki of Sun Prairie, Wis.; two brothers, Melvin Hildebrand of Licking and Gayle Hildebrand of Evening Shade; three sisters, Maxine Helton of Plato, Josie Grainer of Roby and Novella Pfhal of Killeen, Texas; and two grand-children. Services June 15 at the Long Hollow Church at Evening Shade with the Rev. Gary Hutsell officiating. Burial was in the Long Hollow Cemetery un-der the direction of Fox Funeral Home of Licking. “
