William E. “”Bill”” Tarrants, 88, son of John L. and Linnie Bruce Tarrants, was born April 12, 1914, at Canalou. He died July 2, 2002, at Sells Nursing Home at Matthews. He married Opal Mae Lacy Oct. 11, 1934, in Canalou. Mr. Tarrants had lived at Raymondville for the last 10 years but spent most of his life in the Canalou, Matthews and Morehouse communities. He was a farmer and operated a planer at Himmelberger-Harrison Manufacturing at Morehouse. He was a member of the Faith General Baptist Church at Morehouse and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife March 26, 1966; and one daughter, Lavada Greer. Surviving are two daughters, Donna Curry of Morehouse and Marilyn Ceplina of Raymondville; three sons, Johnny Tarrants of Festus, Billy Tarrants of Houston and Michael Tarrants of Fenton; two brothers, Harold Tarrants of Morehouse and John S. Tarrants of Hartville; three sisters, Mary Appleton of Morehouse, Myrtle Donnaley of Peveley and Uneita Tarrants of Ellwood, Ind.; many grandchildren, two great-grandchil-dren and two great-great-grandchil-dren. Services were July 5 at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Morehouse with the Rev. Jerry Adams officiating. Burial was in the Matthews Cemetery at Matthews. “
