James Arthur Strause Sr., 65, son of James H. and Mildred Scott Strause, was born June 16, 1937, at Green Springs, Ohio. He died July 16, 2002, at Lester E. Cox Medical Center South in Springfield. Mr. Strause was a former police officer and Korean War veteran. He was a member of the Blue Buck Mountain Ministries. Surviving are his wife, Helen; seven sons, James II of Missouri, Tim Strause, Tom Strause, Doug Crowell, Allen Strause and Allen Crowell of Ohio and Robert Crowell of Florida; six daughters, April Polm and Kelly Strause of Missouri, Lori Baum and Shelly Metcalf of Florida, Sandy Weatherspoon and Gina Nuhfer of Ohio; 39 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services were July 19 at the Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home Chapel in Cabool with the Rev. Steve Dunlap officiating. Burial was in the Cabool Cemetery with military graveside services con-ducted by American Legion Post #3770 of Mountain Grove. “
