Thelma Nelle Ramsey, 81, daughter of John Byrd and Alta Mae Brown, was born March 5, 1921. She died July 29, 2002, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston following a long illness. She was a life-long resident of Texas County and will be remem-bered for her sense of humor and ability to put words on paper. She wrote many poems and short stories for her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oral Ramsey; two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are one son, Dan Ramsey of West Virginia; one daughter, Jan Mozie of Paris, Mo.; four grandchildren, two great-grand-children; and Leann Harrell of Kansas. Memorial services were Aug. 3 at Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Wesley Wallace officiating under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. The body was cremated. “
