Mary Ruth Hudgens Crews, 81, daughter of Richard David and Minnie Agusta Lee Hudgens, was born June 12, 1921, at Waynesville. She died July 23, 2002, at St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield. She married Elmer Ransom Crews Sept. 2, 1939. They had 10 children. Mrs. Crews worked at Fort Leonard Wood for the Army and Air Force Exchange until she retired due to her health. She spent time embroidering quilts for her family and loved to go fishing and camping, enjoying the out-doors. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Brenda Lou Crews; her parents; one brother, Lorene Richard Hudgens; two sis-ters, Jeretta Dye and Freida Starens; and seven infant brothers and sis-ters, Donald, Bonnie, David, Viola, Lora, Lanna and Sylvia. Surviving are nine children, Neoma Ruth Kimrey, Mable Lorene Greenlee, Shirley Jean Kimrey and Albert Lee Crews of Roby, Elmer Eugene “”Buck”” Crews of Plato, Gladys Darlene Sheffield of Dixon, Janice Kay Coziar of Granite City, Ill., Connie Sue Crews of Licking and Harvey Dennis Crews of Bois D’Arc; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchil-dren. Services were July 26 at the Roby Baptist Church with Eugene Earp and the Rev. Gary Garner officiating. Burial was in the Long Hollow Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home of Houston. “
