Edna Gobble Hays, 93, daughter of James A. and Effie M. Nevill Gobble, was born July 6, 1909, near Simmons. She died Aug. 10, 2002, at Houston House. She married Ford Hays Jan. 4, 1928. They had two daughters and lived for several years near Green Mountain, Iowa. Mrs. Hays was a member of the Oak Dale Church for several years before moving her membership to the United Methodist Church in Houston. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for many years. She was cashier in several grocery stores in Cabool; Ellis Brothers, MFA, Williams and Ramey supermarkets. She enjoyed her family, attending church and the senior center as long as she was able. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dec. 28, 1984; three brothers, Lawrence, John and Earl Gobble; and one sister, Ethel Williams. Surviving are her daughters, Clara May Jones and Sharon Sillyman of Houston; one sister, Margarette Davis of Houston; seven grandchildren, seven great-grand-children and one great-great-grand-child. Services were Aug. 13 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Norris officiating. Burial was in the Oak Dale Cemetery. “
