Floyd D. “”Tommy”” Vandiver, 76, son of Frank and Ethel May Vandiver, was born Sept. 18, 1925, at Rover. He died Aug. 10, 2002, at his home in Houston. His family moved to Oklahoma and later returned to Missouri in a covered wagon, where they lived on a farm in the Fairview community. After serving in the Army, he re-turned to Houston and married Lorene Collins. They lived in the Fairview community. In the late ’60s, he moved to Houston and re-tired after 23 years of service at the Houston Schools. After his retire-ment, he was involved with the Houston Senior Center, serving as president of the board; and mowing yards. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ralph, Boyd and Glen Vandiver; one sister, Doris Vandiver; and his wife. Surviving are one daughter, Leann of Independence; one brother, Virgil of Sunnyside, Wash.; one sister, Mary Fern Rushford of Tennessee; one granddaughter and one great-grandson. Services were Aug. 13 at the Bado Community Church with the Rev. Bythel Friend officiating. Burial was in the Bado Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. “
