Zola Francis Shoemaker, 67, daughter of Zolan Chester Norris and Opal Francis Pendland Norris, was born Sept. 1, 1934, at Hartshorn. She died Aug. 30, 2002, at Lester E. Cox Medical Center South in Springfield. Mrs. Shoemaker worked in health care as an aide and for Angelica Uniform Co. She was a member of the Cherokee Nation for several years. In 1986, she moved to Pascagoula, Miss., where she was a sewing designer for Hanneke. In 1993, she moved back to the Eminence/Summersville area, later moving to the Licking Senior Housing Complex. Her hobbies were sewing and reading. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Betty Steelman; and an infant grandson. Surviving are her six children, Les Walberg of Berkeley, Rita Weisbrod of West Plains, Jeff Walberg and Carla Long of Van Buren, Billy Walberg of Doniphan and Sherry Green of Knob Knoster; five brothers and sisters, Jack Norris and Kent Norris of Hartshorn, Vera Kay Ireland of Tucson, Ariz., Sylvia Emerson of Emerson-Michie, Tenn., Sherry Jennings of Success and Karen West of Harker Heights, Texas; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grand-children. Memorial services are 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Antioch Cemetery at Hartshorn with the Rev. Gary Steelman officiating under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home of Summersville. “
