Vesta Faye Watson, 86, daughter of James Floyd and Mary Angeline Corn Hamilton, was born Sept. 26, 1916, at Solo. She died on her birthday at Kabul Nursing Home at Cabool. She attended grade school at Solo and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church since a young girl. She married Herbert H. Watson March 14, 1940, at Solo. After their marriage, they moved to the state of Washington for a brief time. Her father’s illness brought them back to Solo. Mrs. Watson helped on the family farm, where they started a dairy operation and raised their three sons. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, reading and entertaining her children and grandchildren. She was known for her country-style cooking. In the early ’90s, the Watsons moved to Pineview Heights in Cabool. In October 2000, Mrs. Watson became a resident of the Kabul Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her husband March 20, 1992; her parents; an infant son; brothers, Pat, Eckle, Archie, Philip, Emerson and Robert Hamilton; sisters, Delia Harrison and Hattie Jackson; and an infant great-grandson. Surviving are her three sons, Jackie Lee “”Jack”” Watson of Solo, Carl Dean Watson of Houston and James Edward “”Eddie”” Watson of Cabool; five grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. Services were Sept. 28 at the New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Norman Orr and the Rev. Ed Hamilton officiating. Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home. “
