Alice Beatrice Rhodes, 75, daughter of Jess R. and Alice Miller McGowan, was born Sept. 12, 1927, near Bendavis. She died Oct. 29, 2002, at Houston House where she had been a resident for the last year. She attended school at Dunsmore. She married Art Rhodes. Mrs. Rhodes worked at Brown Shoe Co. for several years. She came back to the farm to care for her parents until their deaths: her mother Dec. 6, 1974, and her father, January 1995. She loved the farm life, caring for the home, gardening, flowers and the outdoors. Surviving are two brothers, Robert McGowan of Newton, Iowa, and George Wayne McGowan of Riverside, Calif. Services were Nov. 2 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Eddie Williamson officiating. Burial was in the Rock Springs Cemetery at Bendavis. “
