Jesse Carl Murphy, 84, son of William Edward and Alice Shrum Murphy, was born July 6, 1918, at Walnut Ridge, Ark. He died Oct. 26, 2002, at his home at Summersville. He married Tressie Marie Lee Fisher Sept. 8, 1937. Mr. Murphy was a superintendent of service for the Biltmore Hotel in Oklahoma for more than 37 years. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Summersville in 1974. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Margaret Lucille Murphy; two sons, Tony Ray Murphy and David Carl Murphy; five sisters, Ada, Cora, Velma, Lula and Naomi; three brothers, Ed, Verlon and Charles; one grandson and a great-grand-daughter. Surviving are his wife of 65 years; one son, Michael Martin Murphy of Riverside, Calif.; one brother, Otis Gray of Hoxie, Ark.; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Services were Oct. 30 at the Bradford Funeral Home Chapel in Summersville with the Rev. Louis J. Lowe officiating. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery near Summersville. “
