Kenneth Arnold Stark, 80, son of Virgil Ivory Stark and Emma Pearl Williams Stark, was born Oct. 16, 1922, at Licking. He died Oct. 16, 2002, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston. He married Virginia Nelson June 25, 1946. They had five daughters. Mr. Stark served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was inducted Jan. 22, 1943, and entered active service Jan. 29, 1943. He spent 25 months in Central Burma and India as a light truck driver hauling freight and transporting personnel. He was awarded two Bronze Stars per WDGO 33-40 1945 and the Good Conduct Medal. He was entitled to wear the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, the European-African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with four overseas bars and the Victory Ribbon. He was honorably discharged Jan. 7, 1946. His ASR score was 62. Mr. Stark enjoyed working on older automobiles. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Virgil Norvin and Alvin Lee Stark; two sisters, Myrtle Bressie and Mabel Stricklin; and an infant great-grand-son. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Irene Nelson Stark; five daughters, Clilva Vasquez of Laredo, Texas, Cledith Green of Springfield, Clarice Richards of Las Vegas, Nev., Cleta Dean and Claudia Fry of Houston; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services were Oct. 19 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery. “
