Artie Odom Jr., 71, son of Artie Odom Sr. and Ester Jones Odom, was born Oct. 15, 1931, at Auvergne, Ark. He died Nov. 6, 2002, at his home at Salem. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, going fishing, taking care of his ponies and relaxing in the garage with friends. He went to auctions, where he bought items made from brass, bringing them home and polishing them. He retired from Goodyear in Topeka, Kan., in 1996 and moved to the Salem area in 1998. He was preceded in death by his par-ents; infant twins, Lovonne and Leone; a daughter, Sharon Odom; and a son, Glenn. Surviving are his wife, Beverly; seven children, Dennis and Artie III of West Memphis, Ark., Frank of Licking, Don and Anthony of Salem, Perry of Foristell and Susan Davis of West Memphis, Ark.; a stepdaughter, Stephanie House of Topeka, Kan.; a stepson, Jacob Phillips of Topeka, Kan.; a sister, Pearl Rash of Newport, Ark.; 27 grandchildren and nine great-grand-children. Services were Nov. 9 at the Fox Funeral Home Chapel with Rick Mosher officiating. Burial was in the Zion Cemetery. “
