Betty Jean Jarrett, 69, daughter of Walter and Alma Curtner Shelley, was born Jan. 31, 1933. She died Nov. 27, 2002, at Kabul Nursing Home. She married Warren Jarrett May 18, 1948. They lived on a small farm at Cabool and had seven children. Mrs. Jarrett enjoyed cooking, making a special dessert for each child. After her children were grown, she worked at the Brown Shoe Factory in Cabool until her health failed. She was saved at a young age and was baptized into the Cabool Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years; one daughter, two sons, three brothers and two sisters. Surviving are two daughters, Jeannie Thomure and Liz Durham; two sons, Rodney Jarrett and Benny Jarrett; brothers, Tommy Shelley of Aurora, Lee Shelley and Dennis Shelley of Cabool; seven sisters, her twin, Norma Tackkett of Mountain Grove, Lorene Crewse of Graff, Verna Price of Jefferson City, Billie Miller of Raymondville, Barbara Elrod of Texas, Patsy Martin of Aurora and Mickey Chronister of Cabool; 15 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Services were Nov. 30 at the Cabool Assembly of God with the Rev. Darrel Loughridge officiating. Burial was in the Jarrett Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home of Cabool. “
