Elinor Claire McCaskill Harris, 87, daughter of Clarence and Mary Ann Young McCaskill, was born Sept. 9, 1915, at Houston. She died Dec. 7, 2002, at Linden Grove Nursing Home at Puyallup, Wash. She grew up at Houston, graduating from Houston High School in 1933 and attended Drury College. She married Gerson Julius Harris of Marquette, Mich., in 1937. They lived in California, Wisconsin and in Paris with their children during World War II before settling in Harker Heights, Texas, close to Fort Hood. Mrs. Harris was a member of Harker Heights United Methodist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the local garden club. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, needlepoint, square dancing and hummingbirds. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Claire Harris Reising in 1978; her husband, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel; and one son, David Michael Harris in 1999. Surviving are three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The body was cremated under the direction of Yahn and Son Funeral Home of Auburn, Wash. No services are planned. “
