Ernest Germano, 85, of Hartshorn died Dec. 25, 2002, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston. Mr. Germano, a former resident of Auburn, N.Y., served in the U.S. Army Air Force in 1942. He was shot down over Germany in 1943 while flying his B-17 and released as a prisoner of war at the end of World War II. He went on to fly in the Strategic Air Command and left the service during the Vietnam War. Surviving are his former wife, Valgenu R. Wood Germano; a son, Gregory Floyd Germano; a daughter, Carmelina Donna Germano; three sisters, two brothers and a grandson. Memorial services were at Saint Francis Assisi Church on Clark Street Road in Auburn, N.Y. “
