Ethel Baker, 87, daughter of Walter and Ida Pruitt Scheets, was born Nov. 9, 1916, at Yukon. She died Dec. 30, 2003, at her home in Houston. She married Jim Bandy Dec. 8, 1938. They had two sons. After the death of her husband in 1955, she married the Rev. Earl Baker July 24, 1960. Mrs. Baker worked at Angelica Uniform Co. in Summersville for 23 years. She and her family operated a farm near the Big Creek Church at Yukon. In 1978, the Bakers retired and moved to Houston. Mrs. Baker enjoyed quilting, gardening and loving her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, second husband, Earl; one son, Gary Bandy; and two brothers, John and Randle Scheets. Surviving are a son, Danny Bandy of Houston; one brother, Ted Scheets of Houston; two sisters, Myrtle McKinney of Burbank, Calif., and Viola Erwin of Houston; four granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren. Services were Jan. 2 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Houston with the Rev. Delbert Gayer and the Rev. Bruce Moore officiating. Burial was in the Big Creek Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. “
