Carl Richard Jarrett, 59, son of Harvey and Ella Elliott Jarrett, was born Aug. 10, 1944, at Cabool. He died Jan. 24, 2004, at his home after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He married Susan Jane Elwood Dec. 19, 1964. They had three children. The Jarretts lived on a farm north of Cabool on Bado Road. Mr. Jarrett was a Cabool Bulldog football fan, following the team each week in person or on the radio. He was a coon hunter and well known as a prankster and his outlandish sense of humor. He was a second generation farm implement businessman. He and his wife took over ownership of Jarrett Implement Sales from his father in 1964 and was proud of having one of the longest operating businesses on Ozark Avenue in Cabool with 39 years of sales and service. He enjoyed traveling and attending machinery auctions in the region. He was a regular at the local coffee shops and truck stops. Mr. Jarrett was a member of the Hamilton Creek Free Will Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Virgil; a sister, Violet Clayton; and his youngest daughter, Jennifer Jarrett. Surviving are his wife of Cabool; daughter, Carla Burgess of Cabool; son, Justin Jarrett of Cabool; a nephew, Randy Jarrett, who was thought of and accepted as a son after the death of his brother, Virgil Jarrett; a sister, Joyce Adams of Cabool; a brother, Garry Jarrett of Cabool; and four grandchildren. Joint services for Mr. Jarrett and his mother-in-law, Anna Elwood Worden, were Jan. 28 at the Cabool Christian Church with Bob Martin officiating. Burial was in the Jarrett Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry Funeral home of Cabool. Memorials maybe made to the Jennifer Jarrett Scholarship Fund or the Jarrett Cemetery Fund at the Cabool State Bank. “
