Elbert V. Hart, 90, son of Ray and Ida Bray Hart, was born March 2, 1913, at Turley. He died Jan. 6, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, following a long illness. He married Lois M. Brown Nov. 20, 1947, at Manchester. Mr. Hart worked at Wilson and Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Oakland Church of the Nazarene, the AFL-CIO Union, a former member of American Legion Hanford Post No. 5 and served in North Africa during World War II with the Army. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Clarence, Roy, Emmett, Wilson and Alva; six sisters, Martha Llewellen, Dora Thomas, Blanche Hancock, Letha Headley, Ora Riebold and Alma Collins; one granddaughter and two great-grandsons. Surviving are his wife; a son, Terry of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five daughters, Evelyn Majavec of Grand River, Iowa, Brenda Hart, Peggy Gray and Cindy Lamphier of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Patricia Bach of Walker, Iowa; one brother, Golden of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Services with military rites were Jan. 9 at the Oakland Church of the Nazarene. Burial was in the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Cedar Memorial Funeral Home of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. “
