Herschel W. Shoemaker, 98, son of Joseph and Katie Franklin Shoemaker, was born April 25, 1905, near Tyrone. He died Jan. 10, 2004, at the Kabul Nursing Home in Cabool, where he had been a resident for the last year and a half. He had been in ill health for a number of years. He married Daisy E. Pruitt June 13, 1925, at Eminence. She died Sept. 22, 2001, after 76 years of marriage. The Shoemakers spent several years at Cabool and Willow Springs, where they owned and operated feed stores. Mr. Shoemaker spent more than 60 years in the ministry. They assisted in the building of the Tyrone Assembly of God, living and pastoring for many years in that community. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, several brothers and two sisters. Surviving are nieces and nephews. Services were Jan. 13 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Derrell Friend and the Rev. Harvey Hoffman officiating. Burial was in the New Eminence Cemetery. “
