Wilma C. Mooney, 90, daughter of James and Ida Jane Mather, was born July 8, 1913, in Atchison County. She died Jan. 23, 2004, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston. She was a resident at the Kabul Nursing Home in Cabool. She married Thomas Franklin. They had one daughter. Following Mr. Franklin’s death in 1960, she attended beauty school and owned a shop in Westboro and later in Rockport. While living in Rockport, she married John Moody, who preceded her in death. She moved to Houston to be near her family. Her hobbies were sewing, her pets, cooking and spending time with her great-grandsons. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Harry, Lewis, Harley and an infant; and three sisters, Maud Carter, Mary Taylor and Dorothy Kretchmer. Surviving are her daughter, Karen Gaines of Houston; a sister, Jessie Mavity of Fairfax; two stepsons, Donnie and Dean Moody; two grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Services were Jan. 27 at the Minter Funeral Home at Rockport with burial in the Linden Cemetery. Local arrangements were under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. “
