Ernest Hamilton Fitzgerald, 61, son of Ernest Hezekiah and Viola Fitzgerald, was born May 17, 1942. He died Feb. 21, 2004, at his home at Licking. He married Mary Ann Rowland Ditmeyer in 1966. Mr. Fitzgerald was a maintenance mechanic on cranes in St. Louis for several years. The family moved back to the Licking area and he cut cord wood. He had served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Licking, the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Edith Ann; a stepdaughter, Wisa Rowland; and brother, Henry Fitzgerald. Surviving are his wife of Licking; five children, Nancy Hicks of Texas, Judy Rhodes of Rolla, Ernest H. Fitzgerald Jr., Heather Fitzgerald and Tonya Fitzgerald of Licking; a sister, Mary Stacks of Vienna; brother, Larry Fitzgerald of Mountain Home, Ark.; and seven grandchildren. Services were Feb. 26 at the Fox Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Floyd officiating. Burial was in the Tune Cemetery near Salem with full military honors. “
