Richard C. McKinney, 76, son of Robert and Grace Johnson McKinney, was born Nov. 20, 1927, at Bucyrus. He died Feb. 15, 2004, at St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield. Mr. McKinney grew up in the area and was a member of the Gospel Chapel Church of Christ near Licking. He joined the Army Jan. 10, 1946, near the end of World War II. He was discharged July 11, 1947, with the rank of Tech 5. He received a Victory Medal. He married Milly Coats July 9, 1949. They raised two children. He joined the IBEW Union in 1965 and was a journeyman electrician until he retired. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bill McKinney. Surviving are his wife of the home; two children, Patricia Williams of Marianna, Ark., and James McKinney of Broken Arrow, Okla.; his brother, Vernon McKinney of Bucyrus; his sister, Dorothy Connolly of Libertyville, Ill.; and four grandchildren. Services were Feb. 18 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Otis Brown officiating. Burial was in the Emory Cemetery. “
