Bobby Joe Deck, 72, son of Lyle and Effie Gross Deck, was born June 11, 1931, at Springfield. He died March 21, 2004, at his home at Cedar Creek. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5168 and Disabled American Veterans. He was a retired veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, woodworking, eating ice cream and spending time with family and friends. He grew up at Houston and moved to Cedar Creek in 1989. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John David Deck and Russel Lee Deck. Surviving are his wife, Pok Hui Deck of the home; one son, Bobby Lyle Deck; two daughters, Michele Berndt and Cindy Sheek; six sisters, Mary Willis, Betty Bennett, Frances Stokes, Linda Durham, Sue Silveus and Diann Clark; one brother, Jim Deck; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Services are 11 o’clock today (Thursday) at the Forsyth Whelchel Chapel at Forsyth with the Rev. Jim Carkiker officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Springfield. Memorials may be made to Skaggs Hospice, 611 S. Sixth St., Branson, Mo. 65616. “
