Everett F. Gross, 89, a former Texas County resident, died April 9, 2004, at his home at Watsonville Calif., after a brief illness. A native of Houston, he served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and settled at Watsonville. He was a truck driver for 45 years, mostly for Mann’s Apples in Watsonville. A baseball and softball player in his youth, he raced stock cars at the county fairgrounds, where his number was Circle 92. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian. Surviving are his daughter, Jeanie Re of Watsonville, Calif.; son, Jerry Gross of Sacramento, Calif.; sisters, Betty Clay of Watsonville, Calif., and Helen Dicks of Oakland, Calif.; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services were April 14 at the Valley Public Cemetery at Watsonville, Calif., under the direction of Mehl’s Colonial Chapel. “
