Johnie Ray Pearcy, 71, son of Johnie and Maggie Stilley Pearcy, was born June 2, 1932, at Roubidoux. He died April 13, 2004, at Phelps County Regional Medical Center at Rolla. Mr. Pearcy joined the Army in 1953, serving two years. He was a transport driver in Germany and spoke often of the friendships developed while serving his country. He married Norma Helen Campbell in 1953. They settled on a farm in the Upton community and later moved to Bucyrus. He loved being outdoors and working with his beef herd. He was awarded an honorary FFA farmer degree from the Houston chapter. Mr. Pearcy retired as a Civil Service electrician from Fort Leonard Wood. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Deborah Irene; and a sister, Maxine Brown. Surviving are his wife of the home; two sons, Carl Lynn Pearcy of Harrisonville and Calvin Ray Pearcy of Lenexa, Kan.; three daughters, Carol Ann McNew of Bucyrus, Catherine Lorraine Gilbert of Palm Springs, Calif., and Jeanette Ellen Pearcy of Louisburg, Kan.; four sisters, Mildred Roderick James, Joyce Campbell and Norma Ruth Pearcy of Houston and Cleta Sue Gaddis of Lake Winnebago; and 13 grandchildren. Services were April 16 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Hickory Ridge Cemetery at Upton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. “
