Robert “”Bob”” Lee Jones, 77, fourth of eight children born to Garland and Nettie Hill Jones, was born Sept. 26, 1926, near Bucyrus. He died June 3, 2004, at his home at Houston following a lengthy illness. He married Viola Ruthine Brackett of Raymondville Feb. 28, 1945, in Kansas City. They had three children and were married 44 years before her death. Mr. Jones lived in and around the Houston area most of his life. He was an avid sportsman and lived for deer season. He loved the outdoors but still found time to watch a good John Wayne movie and visit with friends about years gone by. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers, Buford, Jim, Cub, Charlie and Orville. Surviving are his children, Leon Jones of Bedford, Texas, Kenny Jones of Decatur, Texas, and Joyce Jones of Houston; one brother, Wayne Jones of Solo; one sister, Edna Vestal of Houston; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services were June 7 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial was in the Emory Cemetery. “
