Clarence Taft Reaves, 95, the fifth of 10 children of Jesse Reaves and Lula Jane Brown Reaves, was born Sept. 5, 1908, in the Gravel Point community. He died Aug. 20, 2004, at Ozarks Medical Center at West Plains.He attended Gravel Point Elementary School and two years of high school. He stayed with his grandfather in Mountain Grove to graduate from MGHS in 1929.In the early ’30s, he had a Model A Ford truck and hauled milk from the community to the Producers Creamery. On the return trip, he hauled feed and other supplies back to the farmers.He married Mary Elizabeth Smyer Jan. 28, 1933. They were married 62 years and had two children. They operated a dairy farm in from the early ’40s until 1973, when they switched to beef. He continued farming until illness stopped him in 1997 at age 89.He accepted Christ as his Savior early in life and attended the Bado Community Church.He was preceded in death by his wife in 1995; his parents; brothers, Dillard, Ernest, Darrel and Wayne; and sisters, Bertha Reaves Smyer and Esther Reaves.Surviving are his children, Hubert Dale Reaves and Jackie Sue Reaves Hesse; brothers, Nova of Elkville, Ill., and Herschel of Cabool; sister, Helen Laffoon of Houston; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.Services were Aug. 24 at the Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Art Hessee officiating. Burial was in the Bado Cemetery. “
