Eugene “”Hooch”” Stottlemyre, son of Herman and Gladys Stottlemyre, was born at the family home Feb. 29, 1928, at Upton. He died Sept. 6, 2004, at Texas County Memorial Hospital, Houston, following a lengthy illness. He married Faye Gaddis on Jan. 16, 1954. He lived his entire life in Texas County with the exception of time served in the military. He retired from Mid-America Dairy in Cabool.Mr. Stottlemyre was legendary for his gardening skills and year after year produced one of the finest gardens in Texas County. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball and talking politics as hobbies. He was a devoted husband and father. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and a sister, Nellie. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Danny of Andrews, Texas; and Fred, Crossville, Tenn; and one grandson. He is also survived by his brother, Glen, Houston; and Short of Bucyrus. Services were Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the First Christian Church in Houston, with Jeff Moore officiating. Burial was in Pine Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
