Luvena Maxine Helton, 71, daughter of Henry Benton and Rosa Mabel Lee Hildebrand, was born Feb. 17, 1933, near Evening Shade. She died Oct. 29, 2004, at her home following several months illness.She married Luther C. Helton Oct. 13, 1951. They had four children.Mrs. Helton spent her lifetime in the Plato and Roby communities, where she and her husband raised their family.She was a homemaker and seamstress, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a great cook and an accomplished musician.Along with singing in the H & H Quarter from 1965 to 1980, she played numerous instruments. If special music was needed for funerals or other occasions, she was willing to help.Her Christian life began many years ago.She was preceded in death by her son, John Bentley, Aug. 6, 1978; parents; a brother, Glen Hildebrand; and two sisters, Ozelda Havens and Irene Cochran.Surviving are her husband of more than 53 years; her children, Marsha Richards, Pamela Fletcher and Theresa Ryan of Plato; two brothers, Melvin Hildebrand of Licking and Gale Hildebrand of Plato; two sisters, Josie Graner of Roby and Novella Pfahl of Killeen, Texas; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.Services were Nov. 1 at the Palace Union Church with Mike Hutsell and Gary Hutsell officiating. Burial was in the Palace Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. “
