Paul Lester Riley, 96, son of Ben and Minnie Riley, was born Jan. 28, 1908, on the family farm a few feet from his present home. He died Oct. 29, 2004.Mr. Riley graduated with a teacher’s training certificate in 1928 from Summersville High School. He taught several years in one-room schools. He worked for the railroad for a time. Due to his father’s illness, he returned to the family farm to help his mother support the family and allow his younger brothers to attend school. He spent his life farming with a brief time as rural mail carrier.He married Sadann Hailey Nov. 27, 1942. They had two sons.He was preceded in death 25 days by his wife of more than 61 years; his parents and three sisters.Surviving are his sons, James W. Riley of Kansas City and David F. Riley of Corvallis, Ore.; two brothers, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.Services were Nov. 3 at the Bethel Community Church with the Rev. Gary Murrell and the Rev. Chester Webster officiating. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home Summersville. “
