Wilma Christene Kivett, 84, daughter of Jens K. and Caroline Nielsen, was born March 11, 1918. She died Oct. 26, 2004.Some of her earliest memories were of her little brothers hitching a team to pick corn.After graduation, she taught in a one-room school. She earned her beautician’s license and headed west to Los Angeles, where she met and married William C. Kivett.As her husband completed his final years of service, they had three children.After retiring from the Marine Corps, the Kivetts moved to Oregon, where he attended college and worked for the forest service. After his retirement, they moved in the early ’70s to a farm at Beulah.Mrs. Kivett worked with her hands: sewing, knit, canning, furniture refinishing and gardening.She loved to fish but couldn’t swim. She was a keen card player but missed cribbage points. She league bowled at Fort Leonard Wood for 20 years and always had chocolate chips cookies in the jar with a back-up in the freezer and a pot of coffee brewing.She was preceded in death by her brother, Marten; and a sister, Margaret Jaszarowski.Surviving are her husband; children, Aleda, Lyle and Franklin; brother, Russell of Atlantic, Iowa; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.Services were Oct. 30 at the Fox Funeral Home Chapel with Wayne Strohschein officiating. Burial was in the O’Malley Cemetery near Duke. “
