Almeda Bertha Ray, 81, daughter of James Oscar Sykes and Gladys Steelman Sykes, was born July 20, 1923, at Ink. She died Nov. 11, 2004.She married Dallas Ray Feb. 8, 1946. They had two children. For many years Mrs. Ray was a cookie packer in the Sunshine Biscuit Co. in St. Louis. After retirement, the Rays moved to the Summersville area, where she was an active member of the Assembly of God.She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Marcella; and three sisters, Ethel, Ileda and Alta.Surviving are her husband of Hillsboro; son, Frank Ray of Hillsboro; stepson, Ronnie Ray of St. Louis; three brothers, Raymond Sykes of Houston, Thurman Sykes of Summersville and Leroy Sykes of House Springs; six sisters, Thelma Pittman, Ruby Bradway, Evelyn Richards and Myrtle Young of Summersville, Mildred Pyatt of Salem and Juanita Orchard of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.Services were Nov. 15 at the Bradford Funeral Home Chapel in Summersville with the Rev. Ronald Duncan officiating. Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery at Hartshorn. The Rev. Cleo BarnettJames Cleo Barnett, 63, son of James Frank and Alice Barnett, was born Aug. 19, 1941, at Summersville. He died Nov. 13, 2004.He married Dixie Kay Graves March 12, 1983, at Burlington, Kan. They had 10 children.He was preceded in death by his father; sons, Jeffery Allen Barnett and James Cleo Barnett Jr.; infant brothers, Sherman Dean and Donald Eugene; and a granddaughter.Surviving are his children, Mark Garnier of Lenexa, Kan., Randy Barnett of Lake of the Ozarks, Shelly Hurd and Jennie Lopez of San Antonio, Texas, Judy Hunter of Atlantic Beach, Fla., Shayne Dehm of Olathe, Kan., Brenda Barnett of Emporia, Kan., and U.S. Petty Officer Jimmie Howard Dehm of Norfolk, Va.; 17 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.Services are 10 o’clock today (Thursday) at the Faith in the Word Church at Summersville with the Rev. Cordie Wimberley and the Rev. John Atchison officiating. “
