Kenney “”Dicky”” Sterlin Baney, 63, son of Sterlin and Ruby Haggard Baney, was born Aug. 23, 1941, in Texas County. He died Nov. 5, 2004, at his home near Huggins following a fight against cancer.He married Betty Sue Coble March 5, 1966. They had two daughters.Mr. Baney drove a school bus, worked as a custodian, owned a milk route and was a dairy farmer for the last 24 years. He was a charter member and fireman for the Huggins Number One Fire Department.In his earlier years, he had a champion coonhound, Smokey, with whom he hunted many hours and won numerous awards. He continued to own, raise and hunt bluetick hounds until his death.He got the diagnosis of cancer in 2002 and was able by God’s grace to enjoy life for the next three years. When his health prevented him from walking, he bought a Gator to enable him to enjoy the farm and outdoors.He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Oscar and Amy Murr Baney; and maternal grandparents, Harvey and Elizabeth Shelley Haggard.Surviving are his wife of the home; two daughters, Arla Gaye Prock and Darla Leeanne Conway of Mountain Grove; his parents of Mountain Grove; two sisters, Shirley Smith of Mountain Grove and Margie Cook of Cabool; and five grandchildren.Services were Nov. 8 at the Number One Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Hurley and the Rev. Derrel Friend officiating. Burial was in the Bado Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt-Bradley Funeral Home of Mountain Grove. “
