Ethel Winnie Belew Smith, 99, daughter of Willliam S. Belew and Sarah Annie Fisher Belew, was born July 1, 1905, at Summersville. She died Dec. 16, 2004, at Mountain View Healthcare.She married Homer Albert Smith June 21, 1925. They had eight children.She shared her husband’s career as an auctioneer and cattleman. Her homemade pies at the Sale Barn Cafe were a favorite for all of Summersville.As a preacher’s daughter, she became a Christian early in life under the influence of her parents. Her sugar cookies with a pecan in the middle were a hit with the grand- and great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; sister, Pearl; brothers, Roy and Jesse; one grandson and a great-grandson.Surviving are her children, Lawrence of Lebanon, Beulah Bryant, Earnest Smith, Wayne Smith, Merle Smith and Ronnie Smith of Summersville, Wanda McNeall of Springfield and Harold of West Plains; 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.Services were Dec. 20 at the Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Albert Steelman and the Rev. Tommy Boyd officiating. Burial was in the Summersville City Cemetery. “
