Lucille Cecile Brown, 84, daughter of Lee and Bessie Ann Evans Brown, was born Jan. 18, 1920, near Eunice. She died Dec. 2, 2004, at Willow Care Center following an extended illness.She lived in this area and attended elementary school. The family moved to Iowa in the early ’30s. She graduated from Adel High School in 1939 and attended Drake College, where she received a teacher’s certificate. In 1946, she and her parents moved back to the Eunice community and bought a country store.She taught three years in Iowa, two at a rural school and one year at Cambridge. She helped in the store until the summer of 1956, returning to school at Southwest Missouri State University until August 1958. She taught at Francis Howell R-III District near St. Charles. During the summers, she finished her bachelor’s in education and master’s in counseling through the University of Missouri-Columbia. She retired in 1980 after 22 years in the same school district.In 1977-’78, she built a large four bedroom house near Eunice as a boarding home for the elderly. In 1983, she opened the old family house in Eunice as a quick shop and gas station. She sold the “”Chit & Chat Corner”” store in April 1987 and repurchased it in December of the same year. She also raised poodles to sell.She received Christ as her Savior when young and was baptized July 6, 1952.She was preceded in death by her parents.Surviving are several cousins.Services were Dec. 4 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Albert Steelman officiating. Burial was in the Union Chapel Cemetery. “
