Margaret May Davis Meador, 85, daughter of Roy and Sylvia Totten Davis, was born Sept. 17, 1919, at Houston, She died Dec. 31, 2004, at Houston House after a lengthy illness.Her family had homesteaded in Texas County, a heritage of which she was proud.After graduating from Houston High School in 1937, she continued to beauty school. She worked for 40 years in a beauty shop on Grand Avenue in Houston.After retiring, she married a high school sweetheart, Lee Meador. They moved to Oregon for several years, traveling, gardening and fishing until his death in 1992.Mrs. Meador returned to Houston, where she joined the Texas County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, serving 2,586 hours as a volunteer. She made crocheted items to be sold in the hospital’s gift shop and served on many auxiliary committees.She had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Houston since a very young age.She was preceded in death by two husbands, Howard Farrar and Lee Meador; her parents; two brothers, James and Ralph Davis; and two sisters, Hazel Venable and Norma Davis.Surviving is one son, Ronald Payne of Virginia Beach, Va.The body was cremated under the direction of Evans Funeral Home of Houston.At her request, no services are planned.Memorials may be made to a favorite charity or church.The TCMH Auxiliary will host a memorial luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, in her honor. “
