Paul Neal, 85, son of Glen Marshall and Oma Mae Palmer Neal, was born Sept. 10, 1919, at Keifer, Okla. He died Jan. 14, 2005, at his home at Vernal, Utah.He grew up in the Upton community in Texas County and married the love of his life, Violet Richens July 1, 1942, at Malad, Idaho.Mr. Neal served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a radio controller. His profession as a cement contractor took him to many places including California, where he and his young family built a home and lived for a while.Mr. Neal was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Cherokee Nation. He was proud of his Cherokee heritage. He loved playing the guitar, singing, gardening, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, trapping and reading.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife in April 1985; daughter, Elaine Mahaney; son, Bobby Rynes; three brothers, Kenneth Neal, Howard Neal and Dewey Neal; a grandson and great-grandson.Surviving are his children, Ronnie Neal of Vernal, Utah, and Linda Christenson and Evelyn Vorwaller of Ogden, Utah; two brothers, Delford Neal and Norman Neal; four sisters, Mary Medlin, Kerma Breedlove, Olive Roquet and Doris Webb; 19 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.Graveside services were Jan. 18 at the Vernal Memorial Park Cemetery. “
