Elsie E. Poe, 74, daughter of Delmar and Nancy Morgan Gale, was born April 9, 1930, in Texas County. She died Feb. 23, 2005, at her home at Solo.Mrs. Poe grew up in Texas County, the ninth of 11 children.She married Virgil Poe. They had five children and lived on a farm in the Solo community.Mrs. Poe enjoyed working with cattle, camping, cliff climbing and exploring caves. She knew the usefulness of herbs and would dig for special herbs and plants.She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Lola Holden, Vina Trolinger and Idola Johnson Hall; and five brothers, Tom Gale, Sidney Gale, Artis Gale, Othel Gale and Virtis Gale.Surviving are her children, Otis Poe of St. Clair, Beverly Bay of Richwoods, Debbie Weggenmann of Fenton, Barbara Jean Kiley of Sand Lake, Mich., and Mary Ann Poe of Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Eva Hall of Licking and Ruby Rose of Eminence; nine grandchildren and 13-great-grandchildren.Services were Feb. 26 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Patrick Singleton officiating. Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery. “
