Harold Otto “”H.O.”” McLaughlin, 92, son of Otto and Stella McLaughlin, was born Jan. 27, 1913, at Plato. He died Feb. 26, 2005, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston after a short illness.He married Leona Hart Roberts March 24, 1940, at Plato.Mr. McLaughlin was a life-long member of the Plato Christian Church, were he served as song leader and treasurer for a number of years. He was a 70-year member of Plato Lodge No. 469 AF and AM, serving as worshipful master in 1941. He was a well-known beef farmer and popular auctioneer at area farm sales for more than 40 years. He served on the Plato School board for several years and was a director for the Bank of Plato for more than 20 years.He was preceded in death by his wife in 1995; a son, Tommy Otto McLaughlin, who died in infancy; and two sisters, Hazel Hartzog and Marjorie Beauchamp.Surviving are two daughters, Sidney Dandridge of Plato and Virginia Tilley of Overland Park, Kan.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.Services were March 1 at the Plato Christian Church with Eugene Earp officiating. Burial was in the Plato-Lynch Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home of Houston. “
