Calvin Wayne Bailey, 79, the third of seven children of Calvin and Susie Mitchell Bailey, was born April 30, 1925, at Licking. He died March 16, 2005, at Christian Northeast Hospital at Florissant after a prolonged illness.Mr. Bailey grew up at Licking, where he graduated from high school. He was a veteran of World War II.He attended Rubican Business College after his discharge from the Army. He received a degree in accounting and worked for Illinois Terminal Railroad, which merged with Norfolk and Southern railroads. He retired May 29, 1987, after 39 years.He married LaVerne Stike Jan. 1, 1947. They had two sons.Mr. Bailey was a member of the TCN Lodge 521, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 254 of Alton, Ill.; and Disabled American Post #1 for 50 years.He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Bailey, Pearl Bailey and Bessie Lanier; and his parents.Surviving are his wife of 58 years; two sons, Dan and Barry of Florissant; two sisters, Fern Baker of Farmington and Faye Whitaker of Canton, Ga.; and one brother, Bill Bailey of Cave City, Ky.Services were March 20 at the Fox Funeral Home Chapel in Licking with the Rev. Gary Carter officiating. Burial was in the Williams Cemetery. “
